15th Street Dinah

"The world is a showplace, we all know that for a fact."

About Us

15th Street Dinah is a music blog that focuses on music coming in and out of the Tuscaloosa, AL area. The blog is named in honor of the great Dinah Washington, native of Tuscaloosa and “Queen of the Blues”.  If you want news, you can go elsewhere.  If you want strict opinions, I’m sure there are other options.  If you want a good mix of both, this is your spot.  Bookmark us or subscribe to our RSS feed to stay in the loop.

Reed Watson writes most of the stuff, but we will add contributing writers and guest columnists from time to time.  In the effort of full disclosure, it should be noted that Reed runs Hackberry Records, a local label that has artists that will be covered on this blog from time to time.  We’ll try not to be biased and we’ll try to note the conflict of interest.  Either way, you’ll probably like the artist, too.  Not a big deal.  It’s just a blog, right!?

Also, be sure and make a run down our blogroll and check out some of our friends.  They all do great work, and you’ll enjoy their work.  They all contribute in their own way, and it’s interesting to keep an eye on them.

Finally, we will always try to keep this blog on a intellectual and creative level that exceeds that of other stuff going on.  We make no qualms about it– the student media in Tuscaloosa is a joke.  We don’t have much in terms of alternative media.  There are some wonderful columnists and writers at the Tuscaloosa News (and they are linked on the front page), but there’s only so much they can do.  All of our writers come from a journalistic background and we exist to inform, entertain and innovate.

We hope you enjoy it.
